About the event
Ghostly Nights are proud to introduce you to The Museum of East Dorset.
The Museum of East Dorset is a captivating blend of history, culture, and mystery, brought to life by Hilda Coles in the 1960s. Originally an ironmonger’s shop, the building transformed into a museum dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of East Dorset. Its extensive collection of over 35,000 objects spans centuries, featuring Roman artefacts, an Iron Age skeleton, and Victorian Valentine cards that range from charming to unsettling. With ten galleries, a Garden Room, and a Learning Centre, the museum explores everything from domestic life to its own storied past.
But history isn’t the only thing that lingers here. Visitors have reported eerie occurrences—echoing footsteps in empty galleries, books mysteriously falling from shelves, and unexplained anomalies caught on camera. Whether you come for the artefacts or the thrill of the unknown, the Museum of East Dorset offers an experience that’s as thought-provoking as it is haunting.
