THE WALRONDS
Ghostly Nights invites you on a journey through time to explore the Walronds located in the centre of Cullompton. This stunning Grade 1 listed Tudor town house built in approx. 1605 and beautifully restored in 2014 has many tales to tell.
In 1564, the property now known as the Walronds was bought by a local merchant and landowner, Henry Parish. The property was then passed down through the family to Emilyn who died in 1602. This was the year of a great fire which destroyed the properties standing at 2, 4, 6 and 8 Fore Street. These were rebuilt between 1602 and 1605 and now comprise one of Devon’s best townscapes.
The ground floor consists of 3 reception rooms, a commercial kitchen, toilets and garden which are used for community and business purposes. The upper floors are privately let.

There are many stories attached to the Walrond’s from a witches’ coven rumoured to have rented this property. Witches’ circles and signs can be seen throughout the house as well as odd smells and darting shadows.
The shadow of a man thought to be that of a previous owner, a lawyer who used to sit and meet clients in the hall, has been seen gliding across the room to the parlour.
It has also been reported that nuns once stayed at the property with a mother superior rumoured to have never left, with footsteps heard in her previous room and items moved.

What to expect on the night...
We typically start the night with a circle of protection and a chance to experience a few of the rooms without any equipment to immerse yourself into the night and tap into your sixth sense.
Throughout the night we will facilitate several vigils including modern and victorian techniques to investigate the hauntings.
A base-room will be provided to store all personal belongings during the night and to rest between vigils. Plenty of breaks will be provided.
You will also have 1 hour to explore and conduct your own vigils using any of the kit provided.

How to find The Walronds
If you turn up Tiverton road and turn left just before the firestation , along Shorlands lane then turn left down the car park drive for Walronds and little Walronds. Alternatively St Andrews Road, Car Park EX15 1LN a 4 minute walk away.
